Rare Vintage 1970s Halston Red Ultrasuede Belted Coat Dress

A collectable 1970s coat dress by Halston, made in the USA from the designerās signature Ultrasuede. The supple suede-like fabric is a muted crimson red with raspberry undertones. Its directional nap creates subtle variations in depth and colour as it catches the light.
A wide shawl collar flows into the crossover front, creating an elongated neckline. The full-length sleeves are gathered into narrow buttoned cuffs, while long vertical seams give the flared, knee-length silhouette understated structure.
A narrow internal tie secures the waist before the front closes with a concealed snap. The original removable Ultrasuede belt can be tied to define the waist or left loose for a more relaxed shape. Two generous concealed interior pockets preserve the coat dressās streamlined exterior. The unlined construction allows the fabric to remain soft and fluid. Wear it closed as a dress or open as a lightweight statement coat.
Ultrasuede became one of Halstonās defining materials during the early 1970s. Its softness, practicality and ability to hold a precise yet relaxed shape complemented the designerās pared-back approach to American sportswear.

Excellent. Professionally dry cleaned recently.
There are a few faint surface scuffs and variations in the Ultrasuede nap, including subtle marks on the lower front skirt. These are difficult to see when the garment is worn and blend into the shifting texture of the fabric.
Three small initial tabs have been sewn inside one front panel. They are not visible when the coat dress is worn. No significant structural faults were noted. Please review all photographs carefully for the garmentās condition, colour and construction. |
