Fit Guide
Vintage clothing sizing, manufacture, and material is not made the same as modern!
To help you choose, we provide detailed measurements, comprehensive descriptions, and high-quality images for each item.
-
Measurements vs. Label Size: The size we list is based on our flat measurements of the garment. The garment or original manufacturer’s label size is provided for reference only. Because vintage clothing was often cut closer to the body, it can fit very differently than modern sizing. Always rely on the listing measurements for accuracy rather than label or estimated sizes.
-
Fabric Stretch: Some fabrics stretch, while others have no give. We note fabric stretch in the item description whenever relevant.
-
Returns: Please note that we cannot offer cancellations, returns, or exchanges for change of mind, or for improper fit, so checking measurements carefully prior to purchase is important. If you need extra details or measurements, contact us before purchasing.
-
Our Size Guide: Because sizing terms vary across vintage sellers, Coeva Vintage uses the following measurement guide for reference:

To gauge fit, it's helpful to take your detailed measurements (tips below) or to take a similar item of clothing from your wardrobe that fits you well and measure it laid flat.
Tip! Have a professional take your measurements, or use a dressmaker’s tape to measure yourself over the undergarments you plan to wear (don’t measure over your clothing!).
BUST / CHEST: measure over the fullest part of the bust/chest, while wearing a bra.
UNDERBUST: measure around the fullest part of the ribcage.
WAIST: measure around the smallest point of the waist where it naturally curves in.
HIP: measure around the fullest part of the hips.
SHOULDER TO WAIST: measure from the top of the shoulder, where a normal shoulder seam would lie, down the front, following the curve of the bust.
LENGTH: measure from the top of the shoulder (where a normal shoulder seam would lie) down the front, to the point where one wants the garment to end at the hem.
We also rate each piece based on condition - see our rating guide below.
Each item listing includes pricing, detailed information, a clear description of any flaws, and high-quality color photos. If you have questions, or need additional details or measurements before purchasing, please contact us as we're happy to help.
