Vintage 1970s The Regency Selection by Rubie’s Gold Sequin Tailcoat Jacket
Spectacular 1970s theatrical tailcoat from The Regency Selection by Rubie’s, made in the USA and completely covered in warm gold sequins.
Overlapping round sequins and textured metallic threads create a dimensional surface that shifts between antique gold and reflective highlights as the jacket moves. Even the collar, lapels and long sleeves are fully sequined, giving the piece an uninterrupted all-over shimmer.
The sharply tailored silhouette has broad pointed lapels and an open, cutaway front that finishes at the waist. Three gold satin-covered buttons decorate each front panel, emphasizing its formal tailcoat construction without functioning as fastenings. At the back, two additional satin-covered buttons define the waist above a pair of long, rounded tails. A deep centre split creates the jacket’s dramatic 42.5-inch rear length.
The interior is fully lined in coordinating gold satin, which also finishes the inside of the tails. Originally produced as a theatrical costume, the jacket is equally suited to performance, editorial styling or worn as an extravagant evening layer.

The jacket was professionally dry-cleaned before listing. There are two or three minor thread pulls and areas of disrupted sequins on the rear, immediately to the left of the centre split between the tails. These are subtle within the densely sequined surface but have been photographed in close detail. No other significant flaws were noted. Please review all photographs carefully for the jacket’s condition, colour and construction.
