Vintage 1970s Lanvin Paris–New York Abstract-Print Jersey Maxi Dress
A striking 1970s maxi dress by Lanvin Paris–New York, the French high fashion house which was founded by Jeanne Lanvin in 1889.
The deep navy dress, made in the USA from smooth, medium-weight stretch jersey, is animated by a kinetic abstract print in vivid green, orange, aqua blue and white. Elongated colour trails curve across the dress before dissolving into clusters of rounded droplets, creating a sense of movement from the shoulders to the hem.
Featuring a topstitched V-neckline and long, narrow sleeves with stitched cuffs, the dress is gently shaped through the bust, waist and hips before opening into a fluid A-line maxi skirt. Its uninterrupted construction, without a defined waist seam, allows the large-scale print to remain the focus.
A long centre-back zipper makes the dress easy to step into, despite the stretch in the fabric. It is unlined, allowing the jersey to retain its natural movement and drape.
The dress dates to Jules‑François Crahay’s tenure at Lanvin, a period associated with saturated colour, energetic pattern and graphic abstract prints.

Excellent. There are two minor fabric snags: one on the inner sleeve and another on the front-right area of the dress. Both are small and have been photographed in detail. No significant stains, holes or structural faults were noted. Please review all photographs carefully for the garment’s condition, colour, print placement and construction.
