Vintage Mid to Late 1940s Geronimo by Forrest Heath Co. Inc Cowboy Fringe Bull Leather Jacket | Fringe Jacket
Vintage mid to late 1940s Geronimo Longhorn Fringed Leather Western Jacket by Forrest Heath Co. is beautifully broken in - Patina adds character with wear throughout.
The fitted jacket has a tailored notched collar and lapels and structured shoulders. Contrasting tan leather appliqués depict two longhorn steer heads across the chest, surrounded by looping dark-brown lariat embroidery.
A larger longhorn stretches dramatically across the curved back yoke, its elongated horns following the width of the shoulders. Further lariat embroidery loops around the motif before the yoke finishes in a curtain of long leather fringe.
Fringe also runs from the shoulders to the cuffs along the outer sleeves, covers both large hip patch pockets and encircles the lower hem. The varying lengths and movement of the fringe give the jacket a striking silhouette from every angle.
The centre front was originally secured with three large leather-covered buttons. The two upper buttons remain, while the lowest is missing. Two functional patch pockets sit at the hips, each framed with decorative stitching and layered fringe.
The jacket is fully lined in coordinating champagne-coloured satin. Its softened leather, visible patina and elaborate longhorn-and-lariat decoration make it a great example of mid-century American Western wear.

Condition
|
Fair vintage condition overall, with pronounced wear and patina consistent with a well-worn leather garment of this age. There is rubbing, abrasion, discolouration, and scratching throughout. The heaviest wear appears across the shoulders and upper sleeves, where there are several roughened areas and small surface cuts. The lower back has several additional nicks and small cuts. The leather fringe is aged and uneven, with varying lengths, darkened ends, creasing and some split or shortened strands. The lowest of the original three front buttons is missing. Both remaining leather-covered buttons are present but display surface wear. Despite its extensive patina, the leather remains soft and supple. The interior satin lining is particularly well preserved overall, with no significant damage noted. Please review all photographs carefully for the jacket’s surface wear, colour variation, cuts, missing button and fringe condition. |
