Vintage 1950s Hudson’s Bay Company Autumn Haze Mink Fur Stole Capelet (M" + W)
A well-preserved 1950s mink stole capelet by the Hudson’s Bay Company, in a warm light-brown mutation known as Autumn Haze. Although traditionally described as a stole, this is not a sleeveless wrap. It has a generously constructed cape-like body with three-quarter-length sleeves and wide turned-back mink cuffs.
The stole has a softly rounded shape that extends across the shoulders and falls deeply over the upper back. Matched mink pelts create vertical tonal bands, ranging from pale taupe and caramel brown to deeper shaded brown. A broad shawl collar frames the open neckline, which can be worn folded into a flat collar or raised higher around the neck for a more dramatic silhouette.
Two elongated panels descend from the bodice at the front. Each finishes in a rounded, fur-edged hand-warmer section with a muff-like opening. A concealed furrier hook secures into one of two coiled loops, allowing a small amount of adjustment at the front. The capelet can also be worn completely open.
The interior is finished in coordinating mocha-brown satin with narrow pleated trim beneath the collar. An additional concealed slash pocket is set into the edge of the lining.
Its sculptural collar, rich natural shading and pristine condition make it a beautiful example of Hudson’s Bay Company’s long heritage in Canadian fur and luxury outerwear. Elegant yet wonderfully wearable, this piece is perfect for a cool summer evening or as a distinctive, sumptuous layer over a wedding gown.

Excellent. The mink remains full, dense and plush, with no guard-hair damage, bare areas, matting or shedding noted. No stains or odours were detected at the time of inspection. The mocha-brown satin lining remains clean and intact. The Hudson’s Bay Company label has mild age-related toning but remains securely attached and clearly legible. The concealed furrier hook and both loop settings are present. No significant tears, seam separation or structural damage were noted. Please review all photographs carefully for the stole’s condition, natural colour variation, fur texture, lining and construction. |
